Welcome to Summer at Sumner 2024! It is a long-standing tradition for our school to offer fun and engaging summer camps throughout the month of June. Campers can expect to participate in fun and unique activities while building long-lasting relationships and confidence. Keep checking back before registration opens for updates on offerings!

Summer camps at Sumner Academy begin the last week of May. Camp offerings can range from Minecraft Camp, to Art and Science themed camps, to athletic offerings. Different camps are offered each week, so be sure to register early so your child can experience all the fun! If you have questions, please feel free to reach out by emailing camp@sumneracademy.org or calling the main office at (615) 452-1914.

Camps typically run from Monday - Friday with one or two sessions. Please see each individual camp for specific times and session offerings.

**All Camps are based on the age and grade of the child for the 2024 - 2025 Academic Year**

Week 0: May 28 - May 31

Week 1: June 3 - 7

Week 2: June 10 - 14

Week 3: June 17 - 21

Week 4: June 24 - 28

Each family will have to fill out a camp waiver before students can participate. Only one needs to be filled out per family, regardless of how many students or camps you are interested in registering for.

Summer Camp Offerings

Week 0: May 28 - May 31

Bird Watching & Nature Camp

Join Mrs. Brazil and Ms. McWhorter for Bird Watching and Nature fun and exploration around campus! Hunt for Sumner Academy's resident hawk, learn to use apps and technology for identifying birds, and make and take your own bird feeder!

The cost is $165.00 per person for a half-day session or $330.00 for the full day session. A supply fee is already included in the registration price.

LEGO Palooza WeDo Robotics

At LEGO-Palooza camp we will learn, build, and create using WeDo Robotics and Legos. Students will design and create Lego art, apply the Engineering Design Process to complete age appropriate Lego challenges, and build! We will celebrate with a Lego Party on the last day!

Campers ages Kindergarten through 4th grade are welcome. There is a limit of 16 campers. Sign up quickly so you don't miss out!

LEGO Robotics Camp

Build and program LEGO robotics!

Design a zoo or an amusement park or even a space station! Our robots will move through a series of automation challenges in each of these scenarios. Using LEGO Education SPIKE Prime Sets, we will learn aspects of engineering, automation, problem-solving, and programming.

LEGO Camp

Join Mrs. Brazil and Ms. McWhorter for a week of LEGOs where campers will explore, build, engage in creative play, and participate in daily-age appropriate design challenges. Camp is contingent upon the number of students enrolled.

From creating a painting pendulum to working with 3D prints, students will participate in various art inspired STEM activities. There will be plenty of fun and creativity to keep kids engaged! There are limited spaces available so sign up quickly so you don't miss out!

Outdoor Science Camp

Join Mrs. Linville for a week of outdoor science adventure! From citizen science projects, Creek exploration, and other outdoor activities, it is sure to be a wet and fun week. Campers will learn how to navigate, build outdoor shelters, and work together to survive the elements.

For students in grades 2nd - 8th

Registration Information

The cost is $200.00 per camper. A supply fee is already included in this price.

All campers should bring a snack and water bottle.

Since this is an outdoor camp, students should bring the following:

Snack
Refillable water bottle
Outdoor backpack
Sunglasses/hat
Sunscreen
Appropriate clothes (they may get dirty/wet)
Closed-toe footwear suitable for being outdoors
- Students can wear water shoes/flip flops on Creek Day
Outdoor notebook (provided on the first day) and pencil

Week 2: June 10 - 14

Band Camp

Join Mr. Cline for a week of musical exploration over the summer! No experience is necessary for students to sign up. Includes snacks and drinks each day, plus a recital on the 13th!

This camp runs only from June 10-13.

Camp Drama-O-Rama

Calling all students to participate in the summer production of The Little Mermaid! The morning sessions will be practice for the production while the afternoon session will focus on Set Design. Our final performance will be on Friday, June 21st at 7:00pm!

*This is a two-week long summer camp. Students who just want to participate in the show can do a morning-only session.

All day cost is $610.00 per person for the full two weeks. Just the morning session is $390.00. A supply fee is included in registration, but students will need to supply a costume after casting.

Campers should pack a snack and a refillable water bottle. Campers staying all day should also pack a lunch.

Gym Class Heroes

Who doesn't want an extra week of gym class? Campers will get to play gym-class favorites including soccer, basketball, volleyball, flag football, and more! Younger students can participate in the morning session and middle school students can join in the afternoon.

Video Game Design Camp

Have you ever dreamt about creating your own video game? Have you even named your characters? Then this is the camp for you! Using Kodu software, students will learn how to draft their story, design their environment and characters, and build their game with kid-friendly software. They will even get to let others play their finished product!
