Sumner Academy Summer Program 

We will be running our Summer Program for 4 weeks this year.  We will have 4 weeks of Enrichment Classes as well as Before and After Care. 

Welcome to Sumner Academy’s 4-week summer program.  We are excited to offer another year of fun, safe and enriching opportunity for students.  There will be two components to our program.  For campers that take morning and afternoon classes lunch at 12:00 pm will be supervised in the cafetorium.  Campers must bring their own lunch.

(1) Enrichment Classes – varied hours. 

Qualified teachers will highlight different interests from academics to creative play to hobbies.

(2) Extended Care – 7:30 to 9:00 AM and 3:30 to 5:30 PM daily.  

Cost:

Before Care Camp: 7:30 am - 9:00 am - $40 per week

After Care Camp: 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm - $50 per week.

Before & After Care Package: 7:30 am - 9:00 am & 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm - $75 per week.

Enrichment Classes Week 1: June 5-9; 9:00 am - 12:00 am & 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Hockey Camp (K – 8th grade) 9:00 – 12:00

Floor hockey will introduce students to the basic fundamental skills of stick handling, passing, shooting and actual game play. Sign-up for a fun filled week with Coach Morris.

Art Camp (PK-8) 9:00 - 12:00

Karen Koder, Sumner Academy Art Instructor, will conduct this Creative Arts camp.

Snapology Jr. Scientist (K-3rd grade) 12:30-3:30

Learn about animals and their life cycles! Discover differences between insects and spiders, vertebrates and invertebrates and learn to distinguish mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians and fish.

Songwriting Made Fun and Easy (K-8th grade) 12:30 - 3:30

Learn to write songs (with or without a musical instrument) with Grammy and Dove Award nominated "Songwriter of the Year", Thornton Cline. Cline has had over 1,000 songs of his published and over 150 songs recorded by major and independent recording artists. Students will learn how to write songs. Their songs will be professionally recorded onto a CD to be preserved forever.

Basketball Camp (K – 8th grade) 9:00 – 12:00

Spend the week with Coach Morris as he teaches campers the basic skills of passing, shooting, dribbling, offensive and defensive strategies.

Water Wonderland (PK-3rd) 9:00 - 12:00

Come join Mrs. Green and Mrs. Kelly for a week of wet activities including water art, outside water projects, and oceanography.

Snapology Animation Studio (3rd-8th grade) 12:30 – 3:30

Students work in teams to create a digital stop-motion using Lego(r) bricks, complete with dialogue and sound effects. Movies will be uploaded to our Snapology YouTube channel for a movie premier to be shared with friends and family.

June 12th through the 16th Chrissy Walker – Snapology $160

 

Model Building (2nd-8th grade) 12:30-3:30

Students will build a model car by learning special techniques.  Coach Morris will guide the hands-on process which features following directions, patience and creativity.

Stage Sensation (5th-8th grade) 12:30-3:30

For middle school students; an exciting opportunity for individual and group vocal coaching, and musical theater instruction from experienced stage performer and elite singing instructor. Class will include a prep-packet for each student, individual vocal performance coaching in the genre of the student's choice, group musical theater performance with choreography and basic acting instruction for the singer. Enrichment Classes Week 3: June 19 -23, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm & 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Mindcraft Camp (K – 8th grade) 9:00 – 12:00

Join us this summer as we explore, learn, problem solve, and create amazing and unique worlds together using the popular game Minecraft.  Minecraft is a 3D simulation game in which players work on their own, or collaboratively, to discover resources and use them to craft and build a unique world.  Campers will be challenged by puzzles, quests, and games as they explore the ins and outs of Minecraft.  This class is for intermediate level users who are already familiar with using Minecraft.

Amusement Park Fun (3rd-8th grade) 12:30 – 3:30

Come design your own motorized amusement park rides, learning some concepts engineers use to create them. Example builds include a Ferris wheel, pirate ship and swing rides.

June 19th through 23rd Chrissy Walker – Snapology $160


Mrs. Robertson's Hair Camp! (4th-8th grade) 12:30 - 3:30

We'll practice with braids, bobby pins and beautiful updo's. BYO brushes, combs and curling irons.

Enrichment Classes Week 4: June 26 - 30, 9:00 am - 12:00 am & 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Mindstorm (K - 8th grade) 9:00 – 12:00

Build and program LEGO robots to think, move and react through a series of automation challenges. Kids use dedicated laptops and LEGO Mindstorms NXT robotics kits to learn aspects of engineering, automation, problem-solving, and programming. LEGO robots remain at camp; pictures of robots and LEGO creations are sent home after camp. Campers, Min 4, Max 12 Ages upcoming 2nd through 8th grade

 

June 26th through 30th DeAnna Ball - $155 


Drama for Kids (K - 8th grade) 9:00 - 12:00

Join us as campers show off their creativity to deliver a self-scripted, self-directed performance. Campers will explore all aspects of theater from acting and directions, to set design and more. Our campers will bring the house down performing a sketch their team creates. Want to know how the show ends? So do we! Come join us for a fun week!
