Sumner Academy is an independent school which serves grade PK-8. The school is known for its individualized attention to each student. Headmaster Steve Jackson describes this attention as “prescriptive education.” Just as a physician will write a prescription for their patient’s needs, Sumner Academy prescribes the best education based on each student’s needs.

The Sumner Academy graduating Class of 2012 has completed their course of study in high school with great honors and accolades. Of the twenty-two graduates, the average GPA was 3.77. An even more impressive statistic was their ACT average score of 29.73! The national average for the ACT is 21 and the Tennessee average is 19.8.

These talented students are headed to the University of Alabama(3), Clemson University, The College of Charleston, Lehigh, Louisville, Ole Miss, Penn State, The University of Tennessee – Knoxville and the University of Tennessee – Chattanooga, just to name a few. They have received hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarship offers.

Sumner Academy is located at 464 Nichols Lane in Gallatin. Stop by and see how your child can benefit from a prescriptive education like the Class of 2012!
