Annual Auction
The annual auction is the school's major fundraiser and a Middle Tennessee tradition. Since its inception in 1987, the gala has raised more than $1.5 million in support of the school's faculty and students. Proceeds help provide an outstanding education to a diverse and dynamic student body and support a gifted, caring faculty.

Once upon a time there was a child. A child that was bright, full of big ideas and always ready with a smile. He began attending school, full of excitement for knowledge and new friends. A few years into his academic experience, the child began to change, to experience struggles that affected the entire family. His flame that once burned so bright within, began to diminish. His parents were full of concern, searching desperately for ways to bring back that smile and the little boy that had been so passionate about living life and learning.
Those parents then found Sumner Academy. After just a few short months, they watched that flame begin to flicker alive within their child once again. The flame grew larger than it ever had before. Both the boy and his family were embraced by the entire school community. He learned things in new ways that inspired him to be curious once again. Teachers encouraged him to work hard and celebrated his achievements, both large and small. He had found a place to belong at Sumner Academy, and his inner happiness, along with his future, shone brightly once again.
This is my Sumner Academy story and I share this with you today in hopes that you will consider making a donation to our upcoming annual fundraiser to help Sumner Academy continue making a difference. Sumner Academy is an independent educational institution in the Middle Tennessee area. The teachers and staff dedicate themselves to the academic development of students, but also stress individual attention and character development, as well as teaching them valuable life lessons. Our students consistently score in the top ten percent on national achievement tests, which is proof that Sumner Academy is helping to shape an amazing future for not only our local community, but our world.
Our school’s major fundraiser is our annual auction, the proceeds of which help to support and enhance our academic program. We are committed to building a growing network of parents, alumni, business leaders, corporation and foundation partners. Please join our list of supporters. It takes a team to win, and we cannot do it alone.
The auction is an excellent marketing opportunity for your organization. Each year community leaders, business executives, leading professionals, and parents from the area attend the auction. Exposure to this audience can be extremely beneficial because the parents of Sumner Academy value and support businesses that help make the school’s vision a reality. You will gain large exposure in front of a large audience. In making your tax deductible donation, you are promoting your business and making an investment in the future of our children and our community.
Last year our auction raised $104,000 in net proceeds. We look forward to another successful event at this year’s auction, The Great Gatsby: Auction 2013, to be held on November 23rd at Sumner Academy. Your donation, no matter how small or large, will go a long way towards helping us meet our goals. With your generous assistance, we hope to meet our financial goals at this year’s auction.
